Chanda Branch
Chanda Branch holds a B.S. degree in Speech Communications & Theatre from Tennessee State University where she literally and figuratively found her voice. She was a member of both the University Choir, Sigma Alpha Iota (Kappa Iota Chapter) and The TSU Showstoppers where she sang various genres, styles, and languages. She has a particular passion for musical theatre and has performed both lead and supporting roles in shows such as Smokey Joe's Cafe, 9 to 5, Ragtime, Porgy & Bess, Dreamgirls, Ain't Misbehavin', The Color Purple, and Crowns. Chanda serves on the board of directors for Raleigh Little Theatre, and The United Arts Council of Raleigh & Wake County, where she serves as Chair Elect. She is a former Board Member for The Raleigh Youth Choir and gave 3 full terms to the City of Raleigh was an Arts Commissioner where she was the first Black Woman to serve as Chair. Chanda is thrilled to be part of the Deep River Singers and loves "singing with love and harmony" as a member of this tremendous collection of musicians. One particular highlight of her time in the group is performing as a soloist at Carnegie Hall in New York City. Another is being able to sing with her mom and sister who are also members of the group.
